I’ll give you a time-tested tip that will make you qualify for a big discount or get cheaper auto insurance quotes: If you keep collision and/or comprehensive for an old vehicle that isn’t a classic, then you are spending much more than you should. Your car’s Kelly Blue Book value at point of making claims (and not the cost of the vehicle when you bought it) is what affects what you’ll get from an insurer. Therefore, you will get nothing if the book shows that your vehicle is worth nothing as at when you make a claim.
So, stop wasting your hard-earned cash. If a vehicle gets old, leave out collision and comprehensive coverage types on it. Doing this will cut down your costs and not put you at risk in any way.
