In mormon doctrine, there is a principle called home teaching. This is a program set up to help the bishop of each congregation assess the needs of the people for whom he has responsibility. The home teaching program also ensure that each home has access to the priesthood, which is important for single women or for families who don’t have a strong priesthood holder within their homes. Home teaching is very important in mormon doctrine, as is visiting teaching. Home teaching is done by two men who are assigned a certain number of families. Visiting Teaching is done by two women companions to other women in the congregation.
