Which certificate to start with?

I'm a college graduate, with a degree in Business Administration (Computer Information Systems). I've been searching the job market here for a while - for about five months. I've not got a lot of experience - two years of database experience dealing with a Point of Sales system, and about 2 years of professional web design experience. I've been looking into getting some database certifications to help with the hiring process, but is that too big of a jump to make? Any input on how to get started is appreciated.
